What a weekend to start the summer holidays on! Saturday saw us head with Camille and Heather to Slane and the North East Connemara Breeders Show. it was only as I was trying to get two ready that I remembered how much work greys are

It was a gorgeous day and all credit to the organisers the ground was in fantastic condition. First up was Heather. This was her first time travelling with Camille and both were really well behaved which makes life so much easier. Despite the heat even so early in the day she performed beautifully throughout to take her class and her first piece of silverwear

They then went in to contest the Junior championship where Heather was brought forward into the Reserve Junior Champion spot and her first sash

Then it was Camilles turn in the ridden ring. In a big over 16 class she took the win in some extremely strong competition. Following the working hunter classes the Ridden Championship was held where Camille was crowned Champion to my delight

I ventured into the In Hand ring for a change and it was a brilliant decision. Camille won the 10 yr old and over mare class adding to the silverware

It was then onto the Supreme Championship and despite my lack of running skills Camille flicked her toe all the way to taking the title. Delighted doesn’t even come close to how I felt

Day 2 dawn and out we went to possibly my favourite show of the year Longford Agricultural Show and County Fair. The show definitely return with a bang and was bigger and better than before. Heather a little tired from a long day on Saturday was a very creditable 2nd in her class. In fairness the fact she loaded without any hesitation was a testament to her wonderful character.
It was Camilles day thought. First up we had the over 16 ridden connemara class which she won, then I was delighted with my new under age pilot Gemma who took over the reins for the 15hh Show hunter class which they won. I think the smile says it all. Thank you Gemma!

The Camille returned for the Connemara championship which she took in one of the strongest championships I have seen at the show in all my years there.

The afternoon saw Ciara Dennigan take over the reins and be reunited with Camille for the working hunter. A beautiful flowing and faultless round saw them come out winners in a big small horse class

Really fortunate to be blessed with such fantastically run local shows and two amazing ponies. Big shout out to Aaron who not only showed Heather so well but was groom and general dogsbody the rest of the time
