Yesterday we took the long trip to Tullylish for the first leg of the Connemara Performance Qualifiers. It was a big ask of Aoife on many levels. It certainly was the biggest track she has ever faced. It was also imposing due to the terrain fitness wise as there were a lot of hills and it was long. We had a brilliant start in the flat and lay in 4th. After walking the track with Ciara I turned to say at any stage please feel free to pull up…. not sure I was the best adviser! They tackled it with a confidence and a bravery beyond their experience together. While the distance in the double cost us the poles I could not care less they absolutely ate the cross country elements. I am in awe of their partnership.
